In 2013, founders Jenny Miller & Katelyn Grady opened The BE in a former ice factory with their small savings and a manual made up of one Post‑It note: “Be early. No shit talk. Long savasanas.” Since then, The BE has grown — new spaces, more classes, support staff — but the same welcoming energy remains.

We believe that yoga is for everybody. Rather than trading on yoga’s mystique and esoterica, we are committed to making this ancient practice friendly and accessible without dumbing it down. We are an outward-looking, community-oriented organization. We are always learning and evolving from these foundational core values.

In a former icehouse with four teachers, 21 classes, and a Post-It note for a manual, The BE is born.

The yoga studio expands to double its size. Our ambitious gym, The BE Athletic launches, then pauses as the pandemic hits. BE-TV begins. The gym closes after three years.

The BE survives COVID and hurricanes. We change, adapt, and grow some more. Thousands show up each week — in person and online.
